Musique: Caribou
I love Free Music Monday over at Mashable, it is a recent discovery and a lovely one at that! Thanks to them I have discovered the psychedelic electronic tones of Caribou, and I am in love.
Caribou, A.K.A Daniel Snaith is Canadian London residing Math professor-cum-musician, and a talented one at that. His more recognised albums are ‘The Milk of Human Kindness‘(2005) and ‘Andorra‘(2007) and he is set to release his latest album ‘Swim‘ in April of this year.
Odessa, from Caribou’s upcoming album ‘Swim‘.
Melody Day, from ‘Andorra‘
Caribou has this electronic and psychedelic quality to his music and each song feels so well constructed (I am assuming that is the Mathematician in him shinning through). I love psychedelic sounds, they are haunting yet upbeat and beautiful. I want to be transported somewhere else when I listen to a song, I want to feel it and not just hear it, Caribou achieves this almost effortlessly.
Irene, from ‘Andorra‘
Bees, from ‘The Milk of Human Kindness‘
Have you found any amazing music through unconventional means?
If you fancy giving Caribou a go, Odesse is still available for download directly.

I’m not going to lie: I was a bit “what is this” at first (I don’t typically listen to much electronic-type music) when listening to Odessa, but the more I listened the more I liked it and the others. And I love that the guy is a mathematician (so awesome) — definitely shows in his work. Really nice find.

Cecilie´s last blog ..I’ll take these storms away.
Like Brandi, at first I was a little confused. But hey, lots of really awesome music takes a little while to get in the groove of. The more I listen to his music, I’m reminded of The Knife and Zeigeist. :)
I’ve also figured out why I went to bed last night singing the song Caribou by April March. XD
